Super Bowl Sunday Prep: Football Watch Party Recipes

Let’s be honest, one of the best parts of Super Bowl Sunday is the food. Since the Pats made it to the big game, my roommates and I decided we’d host a party. When hosting, my goal is to provide great food and snacks for my friends, but also make sure I enjoy the experience just as much as our guest. Today, I’m sharing three fool-proof watch party recipes to get you in and out of the kitchen just in time for the game. Check them out below and let me know in the comments if you try one of them out this Sunday!

Garlic Parmesan Ranch Pretzels
Inspired by this recipe from Life’s Ambrosia

  • 1 lb of sourdough pretzel nibblers
  • 1/2 cup of canola oil
  • 2 tbsp of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp of dried dill
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  1. Preheat oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a bowl with lid or gallon Ziploc bag, combine pretzels, oil, cheese, dill, and garlic powder. Shake well until completely coated.
  3. On a large baking sheet covered in foil, spread the coated pretzels into a single layer.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes and serve warm. These still taste yummy once cooled too!

Crock-Pot Spicy/Sweet Meatballs
Inspired by this recipe from Allrecipes.com

  • 2 lbs frozen homestyle meatballs
  • 1 1/2 cups grape jelly
  • 12 oz chili sauce (I used Heinz)
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
  1. Whisk grape jelly, chili sauce, and cayenne pepper in a medium bowl until well combined. Don’t worry if there are lumps – any clumps of jelly or sauce will melt in the heat of the crock-pot!
  2. Add frozen meatballs to crock-pot + pour in sauce. Use a spatula or shallow spoon to toss + coat meatballs.
  3. Cook on high for 2 hours + on low for 4 hours, keeping crock-pot covered. If your crock-pot only has one setting (like mine), leaving the meatballs for approximately 5 hours works just the same.
  4. Once meatballs are heated through, enjoy!

Chicken + Waffle Skewers with Spicy Honey
Inspired by this recipe from The Hopeless Housewife

  • 1 package of frozen mini waffles (I used Eggo Mini Waffles)
  • 1 package of frozen popcorn chicken (or other small chicken bites)
  • 1 jar of spicy honey (I used Mike’s Hot Honey)
  • 1 package of bamboo skewers
  1. On a large baking sheet, prepare frozen mini waffles according to package instructions.
  2. On another baking sheet, prepare frozen chicken bites according to package instructions.
  3. Rinse bamboo skewers + pat dry before using. On each skewer, slide one mini waffle three quarters of the way down the stick. Add a chicken bite on top. Then another waffle, chicken bite, waffle, chicken bite, and waffle.
  4. Drizzle skewers with hot honey to finish + serve while warm!

As you can tell from these photos, we also like to go all out with our decorations. Much of these items are recycled from previous football watch parties and last year’s Super Bowl. Your local party store or grocer should have some supplies. We picked ours up from places like Party City, Dollar Tree, and Stop & Shop. Can’t wait to see the Pats crush it this Sunday!
