Boston Date Night Series: Burgers + Shakes at Boston Burger Company
Surprise! I’m coming at you with a date night post on a Tuesday. Why, you ask? Simply because this past weekend got away from me and I didn’t shoot content for a featured post – whoops! I hope you can forgive me and instead enjoy this date night post a little early. Stay tuned for a featured post on Friday this week!
With a busy week ahead, Darren and I decided to work date night into our Monday night plans. We were meeting up with a friend at Berklee to rehearse for an upcoming cabaret night we’re performing in, so we grabbed dinner in the area. Boston Burger Company (the location on Boylston St.) is one of Darren’s favorite restaurants in Boston. Their creative burgers and over-the-top shakes landed Boston Burger Company a feature on the famous Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri. Keep reading for a closer look at their insanely good food!
I wasn’t kidding when I said their burgers were creative… They have everything from the “Mac Attack” with homemade 4-cheese mac & cheese, and bacon (featured on triple D); to “The King” topped with peanut butter, bacon, and fried bananas dusted in cinnamon + sugar in honor of Mr. Elvis Presley. While those are two of the more adventurous offerings, Darren went for the more demure “Alpine” with garlic Parmesan, mushrooms, and Swiss. I decided on “The Killer Bee” topped with bacon, a stack of beer-battered onion rings, honey BBQ sauce, and american cheese – delicious, but a total mess to eat! A side of chips + baked beans (or coleslaw if you prefer) completes the meal. Make sure to ask for extra napkins!
Deciding on a shake was another challenge! Known as #FreakFrappes, their monstrous shakes come decked out with Instagram-worthy toppings. We settled on the Oreo Frappe, with vanilla ice cream, Oreo cookies, and chocolate syrup. Let me just say, it was so good I wish I got my own instead of sharing!
We love coming to Boston Burger Company again and again because there is something new to try every time. I mentioned to Darren that I wanted to come back just for Frappes one day so I could try multiple flavors! Let me know if you end up stopping by and which burger/shake combo you try. Happy eating!
