A Colorful Look for Early Spring, Inspired by Two of My Favorite Fashion Bloggers

I don’t know about you, but I am sick of wearing dark colors. As I walk around the streets of Boston, practically everyone I see is in a black puffer coat, bundled up with an equally dark-hued scarf. Meanwhile, my Instagram feed is full of bright, beautiful color as the content creators I follow celebrate the beginning of spring. The weather in New England may not scream spring just yet, but that doesn’t mean our cold-weather wear has to remain dark and dreary. Today, I broke out this light pink coat to lighten my mood, a purchase inspired by two of my favorite fashion bloggers who aren’t afraid of a little (or a lot of) color. Take a closer look below!

When looking the perfect coat to add a pop of color to my look, I knew exactly who to turn to. Jennifer Lake, founder of Chicago blog Style Charade, understands styling in color. Her Instagram feed is full of stunning mural walls and festive looks in every color of the rainbow. I came across the pink coat of my dreams in one of her posts and instantly had to have it. On sale now (with limited sizing left), this pink textured long-line coat by River Island (available at ASOS) is perfect for the transition into spring. The length and teddy bear texture keeps me warm on cooler days, and the tailored fit is ultra flattering. I love the deep pockets too!

Now, the inspiration for this full look – striped scarf, colored sneakers, and all – came from another incredible fashion blogger. Blair Eadie of Atlantic // Pacific (pictured next to Jennifer, above) never ceases to amaze me with her inventive, colorful style. She is a constant source of ideas for new pieces that will bring your wardrobe to life. See the links below for the looks that inspired me:

When I found this striped scarf at Madewell (currently on sale), it instantly made me think of Blair. These round, sparkly sunnies (similar here) are right up her street as well! Finally, the blue sneakers from Primark (in-store only) are a tribute to her causal yet quirky looks and felt like the perfect choice.

P.S. I took all of these photos myself using a tripod! Can you spot the phone in some of these pictures? I did a cheeky reveal in one of the images above.
