“Flying” Around The Wing Boston: Open House Tour

I think I’ve found one of my new favorite places in Boston… When I heard that The Wing was coming to Boston, I knew I had to check it out. That’s why when I saw they were hosting an open house, I jumped at the chance! For those who may not be familiar with The Wing, it’s a women-focused, co-working space, collective, and club with offices in New York City, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston. With slogans like, “The world was built for men, the Wing was built for you,” it’s clear that The Wing is a welcoming environment for women who mean business. My friend Hannah was kind enough to come with me and explore the new space. We had such a nice time and really got to take in the thoughtful touches and detail that went into this work space. Follow along as I take you a virtual tour of The Wing Boston!

When we first came in, we were greeted by the wonderful staff at the front desk. They gave us a quick run-down of what we would see and highlighted certain areas to check out (hello, rooftop terrace). Also within the lobby is a small gift shop with some of the cutest accessories with empowering messages to carry with you throughout the day. I loved the City Girls Doing WTF They Want Keytag pictured above!

Located on the 15th floor of an office building in Back Bay, this place had some seriously beautiful views. Out in the first hallway, sets of tables and chairs line the floor to ceiling windows; a perfect place to sit and chat with new connections or potential business partners. Parallel to this sitting area is a set of conference rooms, which can be booked at the front desk for meetings with guests. We didn’t notice until we were on our way out that they each had names of noteworthy, kick-butt women who made a difference in the world. Again, the attention to detail at The Wing is unreal…

Down one end of the hall, we came upon the in-house cafe, The Perch. With free drip coffee, grab n’ go snacks, and more, it seemed like the perfect spot to grab a light lunch to keep your mind working at top speed.

At the other end of the hall, you enter the first floor main space. There’s a large table with beautiful canvas upholstered chairs and a tasteful chandelier. The space had wonderful greenery as well, with plants tucked into sunny corners. The decor and layout make you feel immediately relaxed, but also like you can put your head down and get stuff done!

A star feature of the first floor is the lending library (sorted by color, of course) filled with incredible female authors and strong female characters. I was pleased with how many titles I recognized and even more excited by how many I had read! Leaving no detail untouched, the library shelves are also lined with gorgeous decor, including the jade and glass sculptures of the female form pictured above. It was truly a centerpiece in the room and something I’d love to explore more in the future, if I get the chance!

The rest of the main floor is filled with cozy couches and chairs to spread out and get to work. I seriously want to know who their interior decorator is because the furniture was stunning! And showcasing an immense attention to detail yet again, there were baskets full of blankets to use, carts with glass water pitchers + cups, charging stations, and headphones available throughout the space – just in case you forgot any of these essentials.

Another favorite feature of mine is the phone booths for calls. I personally don’t love talking on the phone in front of others, especially if I’m conducting an interview or on a client call, as I get distracted easily. These phone booths can be used for hour-long periods at a time, and are adorably named after some of The Wing’s favorite fictional ladies. Each is also equipped with an old-fashioned phone to make your calls feel a bit more fun!

Before heading up to the second floor, we stopped to admire the beautiful spiral staircase. Sporting a soft salmon hue and light wood steps + railing, it is the perfect touch to this stunning space. You’ll feel like you’re climbing your way to greatness!

Upstairs, there is more seating and a quiet room for those interested in blocking out any background noise. I personally loved the yellow upholstered chairs near the windows that caught the sun just right *heart eyes*. A wall of over-ear headphones and baskets of blankets carried on upstairs as well. No matter where you choose to settle in within the space, you’ll always have what you need.

The perks of being 15 floors up? A sunny terrace to take a quick break and chat with colleagues! The spacious enclosure was complete with faux grass, yellow + white striped patio furniture, and dark green couches. I’m obsessed with the leaf-shaped side table pictured above! Hannah and I had ourselves a little photo shoot out here as we enjoyed the sunshine.

It was so nice to be able to explore this new addition to Boston’s Back Bay. If I’m being honest, I don’t currently plan to become a member, as I already work full-time in an office space and a yearly contract is a little outside of my current budget. Still, I like knowing that this space is available and continues to cultivate a community of hard-working women. Thanks to The Wing Boston team for letting us take a look around!

Note: We unfortunately missed out on touring the Beauty Room, as we were a little confused by the door being marked “Members Only.” However, I wanted to call out that this is another incredible perk of membership!
