Furniture + Decor Items on My Wishlist for Our New Apartment (Plus More Re: the Upcoming Move!)
That’s right, we’re moving! After two years in our apartment on Washington St., we are headed just up the street and closer to Brighton Center. We’re upgrading from a 3 bed / 1 bath place to a 3 bed / 2 bath place spread out across two floors (spiral staircase included). We’re also taking on another roommate, so there will be five us for “family” dinners, movie viewings, and game nights!
While I’m definitely not the type of person to complete refurnish every time we move, with a new space comes new opportunity to add pieces that make it feel cozy and fun. I have a few items on my wishlist that I’m looking to consider after we move in. I want to get settled first and see how our existing furniture fills the space. Nevertheless, I’ll be keeping my eye on these over the next month…
Macrame Porch Swing
Our outdoor space at the new apartment is actually getting smaller, which means we can’t bring the Adirondack chairs we had before with us. My vision for our next patio is a swing (if we can figure out how to hang it safely, of course). This will take up minimal square footage, but provide a fun spot to sit and relax outside.

Ikea Dresser
I’ve needed a dresser for a while now (cause: overflowing wardrobe) and have even more case to get one now because Darren + I inherited a TV for our bedroom. I envision it sitting on top of a low, wide dresser at the foot of our bed. Ikea is super affordable and has lots of options in white to match my existing furniture, including the Brimnes wardrobe and Alex drawer units.

Spice Rack Wall
I have seen so many influencers redoing their spice racks during quarantine and I want to join in! Teresa Caruso’s (pictured above) might be my favorite because it is just so aesthetically pleasing. Plus, putting it on the wall saves space on our counters or in our cabinets, which is much-needed in a tiny apartment kitchen. While this may seem high-maintenance at first, once you organize everything the first time, you’ll rarely need to do it again – when is the last time you ran out of a spice?? My answer is “I can’t remember!”

Cute Bookends
We have a lot of books in our apartment! While I try to keep them all in shelves, I also like the look of free-standing books on various side tables throughout the space. Bookends add personality and are a functional way to store books upright. I like the idea of something quirky, cute, and/or colorful!

Entryway Storage
Our current apartment has coat hooks built in near the front door, but this is not the case for our next place. A multi-functional storage unit with hooks for jackets, a bench for putting on shoes, and shelves for storing shoes once removed would be a great solution. Several retailers have similar options, so it’s all about choosing the best one for our entryway space once we can get in and measure.

New Dining Table Chairs
When we picked out a table for our current apartment, we decided to go with bench seating because we thought it might be more functional and fit more people… We were wrong. They’re super uncomfortable and not all the practical for maneuvering around when trying to sit. But that’s okay! The good thing it we can keep the table, re-purpose the benches elsewhere in the apartment, and get new chairs. The table is black, so I’m thinking something equally as dark in finish to match.

Again, I’m waiting until we move in to take measurements and see what will actually work in the new space. However, it’s exciting to plan what new pieces might be the perfect fit! Let me know in the comments which options you think I should strongly consider or DM me on Instagram with additional recommendations. I can’t wait to share more when we move in at the beginning of September!
